Digital Photography Review is perhaps the geekiest photo equipment review website around, doing insane levels of testing and comparison of digital SLR cameras.

Recently they started reviewing point-and-shoot models. They just published their Ultra Compact Camera comparison test. It's pretty useful, looking at 8 different major manufacturers.

Excellent! Thank you for thinking of it. I confess I am partial to Fuji cameras, especially as my mother is still getting plenty of use out of the 35mm autofocus one I bought in the mid 1980s. The Fujifilm 3800 I have does OK, as you can see from the Mendocino stuff I shot the other day, but it's somewhat bulky.

Ooo thanks for the link. I know someone in the market for a new point and shoot!

It's also worth getting a sanity check by looking at the CameraLabs Buyer's Guides (http://www.cameralabs.com/buyers_guide/best_digital_cameras.shtml) and the reviews at Digital Camera Resource Page (http://www.dcresource.com/).

Hey, thanks for those links. I'm in the throes of revisiting my own photography needs and setup and that was just the kind of info I need. :)
