Eurovision Semifinals #1...

I hadn't even realized that the first semi was today, but it was.

The following countries are going on to Saturday's finals:

• Greece (dance pop)
• Romania (ballad)
• Bosnia and Herzegovina (WTF?)
• Finland (metal)
• Russia (ballad)
• Israel (ballad)
• Azerbaijan (WTF?)
• Armenia (dance pop)
• Poland (ballad)
• Norway (ballad)

So we come out of the first semi ballad-hevy, with a pair of relatively mad (but serious, I think) entries, two dance-pop numbers and Finland. Gotta love Finland.

OMG! Evgeni Plushenko is in the Russian video! Trying to pull all the strings, aren't they?

Azerbaijan: all righty then. Actually, the song reminds me a bit of Queensryche. The video - I guess whoever used to do the Backstreet Boys videos is looking for work.
