Little score...

We went to Weird Stuff Warehouse to check out printers for the con.
They've got a Xerox Phaser 840 and several matching "lower unit" auxiliary input trays. There's a bit of a problem, though. It hasn't got enough ink bricks to boot. No way to tell if it really works. It's been there for quite a while (it's on its third-generation price tag, down from $250 to $100), so I'm not ready to trust it without a test. There are also no legal-size trays.
They've got a Xerox Phaser 8200, which looks promising. There are no lower units, though, and no legal-size trays. Still, tempting.
Didn't get either.
I did find a rather nice CanoScan LiDE 80 for only $60, so we can have an on-site scanner. It's missing the film-adapter unit, but that's not a big deal; the LiDE series are not very good for film scanning in the first place, and that's not something we would do at the convention anyway. Unlike Canon cameras, it's possible to download all the basic scanner software from their website, and it works very well.
