The hard-drive failure right before going up to Redding pretty much put the nail in us getting the diamon hitatare kamishimo done for 12th Night.

The fall-back plan is going well, though.

I've got my unlined Momoyama-period kataginu done. It's a good test-bed for the basic hitatare pattern ideas, as it's basically a hitatare without the sleeves. I'm really happy with the collar. Definitely going with the traditional square neckline for everything in the future rather than the curved neckline cut-out that Marshall suggests in his pattern.

K's is cut out and he's working on it now.

If everything comes together, we may screen mon onto them.

I'm looking into options for eboshi. Soft eboshi is probably going to be the answer. Quick and simple.

We're still going to try to get the hitatare done for Further Confusion.

You know, the more you say "John Marshall," the more I am really glad I have never looked at his book. The Effingham PDFs on JML and Sengokudaimyo are adapted from the Nuikata book and I trust him to have gotten them right.

I'm about to attempt tate-eboshi myself. I have some good medium weight black linen, some plastic boning for the band and a big ol' can of Niagara Extra Crispy.

For all that Marshall's book is a mess, I've got to give him credit for what he did get right. It's the most complete and thorough (if convoluted) set of instructions for making simple modern kimono. Mind you, if the Dobson had as good an explanation of pattern scaling I probably would have gone with her patterns instead.

Oh, BTW, soft eboshi is very definitely OK with what you guys are going to be wearing.

Have you 2 started thinking about what you are wearing at CC26 yet? Just curious what you 2 have planned(unless it is all a big surprise).

We're not making anything specifically for CC26, but we're making a lot of stuff for the events leading up to it.

We're not entering in any of the competitions, there's just too much work to do at the convention to make that possible.

I couldn't have imagined either of you having one second to spare, starting like 2weeks before to 1 week after the actual convention. I just thought you both might make up 1 or 2 special (but comfortable) outfits for the weekend itself, to look like spiffy hosts/convention managers/fill in the blank here guys.
