I think I am going to leave that one alone. It will be much more fun to take Garcia to task for his corset issue and his decidedly het male slant on it. Just sayin.

No offense meant to Profgeek's fine zine. I just don't feel like waging that war. Even though I do owe him a LOC or two.

I've got an article in progress...

Well, it' snot always easy for a Het Male to not have a Het Male slant on his zines!

Of course, if I got more material from folks of different slants...

you know I jest. Hit me up for a piece or two if you do a corset 2.0, stocking or shoe issue.

Good Grief, Charley Brown!

Since I'm a part of just about every Sub-fandom mentioned, where does that put me? Seriously. Oh, and I would also be considered a Core Fan, too, by definition, since I started at LASFS and was growed into fandom by the best.
Frankly my dear, I don't think the definition works.
And that's my take on it.

Huh, well I'm pretty sure I do know what he's talking about but unless I'm missing something, in the article itself the definition seems to be mostly by what 'core fandom' isn't, which is a little weird.

Exactly.

Dear me yes. How can Arnie have managed to mis-spell "Corpse Fandom" quite so many times?

Hmmm.

Corpse Fandom...

I'm reminded of the joke about heaven with the punchline "Shhh, they think they're the only ones here."

I made that joke on Kevin's LJ a year or two ago. One of the Corpses got very upset. But is is very appropriate.

I'm starting a campaign called "Sci-Fi Is Okay" to reclaim the word "Sci-Fi" for fannish uses. Fandom's had such an inferiority complex about the term, that somehow we didn't notice when Sci-Fi channel started up two decades ago.

My point is that Sci-Fi is now used by the general populace to refer to that skiffy stuff, and not just to B-Movie fare. And that Sci-Fi has exactly as much (or as little) legitimacy as Science Fiction. (See also Ansible's regular "As others see us" quotes column.)

wow...boring, self-centered, pretentious drivel...

Normally you share only the COOLEST STUFF EVAH!!! I talk to other folks about stuff you share, I wait for pics of clothes you have made, I freely steal memes you post. But that guy...He takes "fandom" waaay too seriously. It's a hobby, maybe he should stop analyzing it and start enjoying it?
