Guest gets upset and a tad snarky. Snark doesn't negate the validity of his complaint. Sockpuppetry ensues in the comment thread (ironic, seeing how guest's wife is a well-known puppet enthusiast).

Con deletes questions about guest from their forums.

Con posts official announcement of the cancellation. Folks complain and small bits of sockpuppetry ensue again.

OK, I just read that whole thread (and posted). Christ. What fucking idiots, indeed! It sounds like he's a great guest, a decent draw, and doesn't demand exorbitant fees for no good reason. So they throw him under the train for another B-list actor hawking autographs for $20 a pop? No wonder it sounds like UFC is going down the toilet - and good riddance!

I know Kath (Mrs. David) from costuming, and from everything I've seen and heard from east-coast conrunners, he's a good guest. The Atlanta folks give him a lot of credit for (with his co-MC) taming the rowdy and obnoxious Dragon*Con masquerade audience.

The only reason I know anything about UFC is it started out as a Doctor Who con, and they show up every year at Gallifrey. It may make for an interesting discussion at next year's Galli.

Thing is, they weren't even good sockpuppets. Very painfully obvious. Lowers the entertainment value. :)

Having met Peter at a few cons, he is worth every penny and they were idiots to drop him that way.
