Television network knows its ratings are going to tank during the super bowl.

Television network producers start brainstorming for a dirt-cheap thing to run during the super bowl (besides reruns).

Someone has a flash of inspiration (that's the unbelievable part) and comes up with the cheapest, most absurd bit of cuteness to hit the TV since Hamtaro.

They name it Puppy Bowl.

So what's Puppy Bowl?

Build a play area and decorate it like a football stadium.

Put a bunch of puppies in it for a few hours.

Film them playing in the "stadium."

Edit it down to three hours (including a "tailgate party" and a kitten "half-time show").

Run that baby.

This year was Puppy Bowl III, and it featured (besides the aforementioned half-time show and tailgate party) plenty of instant replays and "bowl cam" (a camera mounted at the bottom of the puppies' water bowl).

I watched about 10 minutes. Funniest thing ever.

They have the Bowl Cam every year. Since Moose and I are cat people we mostly watch the Kitty Half Time Show. :) They also play it TWICE, once during the Stooper Bowl and a second time right after, just because, Well, It's Cheap!
Yeah, its great in small doses.

Actually, in the SF area they seem to run it from noon to midnight the day of the Super Bowl.

I love all of it.
