Con-X-Treme announced their new dates (scheduling conflict with another event at the hotel) and they're now booked for the Doubletree on...

...wait for it...

July 27-29, 2007.

Yes, the same weekend as San Diego Comic-Con International.

We'll find out if this spells disaster (I doubt it... Terry is doing a great job reaching folks who wouldn't go to San Diego in the first place) or success beyond anybody's wildest dreams (I doubt it, the conflict will have an impact).

Um, I'm not commenting on the con, but I'm not going.

Though, Comic-Con sounds like fun, I wish I had the money.

Lots of folks don't do SDCC.

I don't know if I'd do either convention, but that's me. I am currently wishing, to inject an aside, that they spell-checked their site before posting it.

I have done one SDCC, and have at this time no compelling reason to go there again, and many reasons (yes, prior to the M. Jaquish Worldcon fiasco) not to.

So.

Heck, I *live* in San Diego and don't go to CCI-SD (its new name).

Not.
My.
Cup of tea.

Wasn't planning on going to Comicon.

Haven't heard anthing about Con-x-treme other than the name, could be fun I guess.

I don't see it as a huge conflict either.

Umm not a conflict for me but does this con have a purpose. Seems to be no info on the web site (mis-spellings aside) concerning what Con-X-Treme is. Is it anime, Science Fiction, Dragon pictures, or strange colored art? No theme, and no apparent connection with any group of fans that is identifiable. Please note this is not a criticism, just a comment. Seems to be missing the four things neccessary for a con web page. What, Why, Where and When. Not to mention Who.

Terry does a much better job in person when he's handing out flyers for the "What" and "Why." The "When" and "Where" are pretty obvious on the web page, though.

He'll probably be at LosCon with a fan table. I expect if you point out to him that the web page doesn't get across anything more than "It's a Con" he'll listen.
