Gotta love a whiny loser, particularly a rich whiny loser.

I probably have only bought 25 tracks from iTunes Music Store. I've got a few tracks on my iPod where there isn't a corresponding CD on the shelves in the hallway. Maybe 2-3 dozen songs. Out of nearly 7,000 tracks. So there is a way to get music legally; it's called ripping your own CD's.

And I just downloaded a pair of albums from one of those "illegal peer-to-peer networks."

The funny thing? There's nothing wrong with what I did. I've owned those albums since I was 8 years old. I've still got them. If someone wants to come after me for having the Muppet Show Albums (1 and 2) as MP3 files, I've got the vinyl sitting in the living room. Somebody just saved me the trouble of setting up my turntable and converting them myself.

Well, I've also got the Muppet Movie soundtrack on vinyl...

...but I've got the Muppets & John Denver Christmas Album too, which I think cancels out the good stuff.

Bad Boy. Don't you know you need to spend $1000s to buy each song again through iTunes? Oh, and they want to increase the fee for Top of the line Titles.

They are currently trying to make it illegal to rip your own CDs.

Each time you change the recording media, they want you to buy it all over again, new. We went from vinyl to 8 track to cassette to cd. Well, now we need to buy mp3 too. You can't just figure out a way to go from the old to the new without them getting lots of money.

Don't you understand how the record companies make their money?

But don't worry, if something has been around for so long that you have the vinyl, the record company may be only giving a few pennies (if they remember) to the artists who actually created the work by this point. They get to keep the rest.

Yeah, they don't get my sympathy either.

Remember, Apple used to have "Rip, Mix, Burn" as its slogan. They want to sell iPods; iTunes Music Store doesn't make much money for them (they're kind of the anti-Gilette).

Actually the real Bozo is the entire recording industry for thinking we want to re-buy our music every time there is a new media out there. The Real Networks idiot is just parroting the music industry.

But then again with Real Networks, you rent, not own, the music from their system. When you stop paying them rent, the music goes away. Scary.

I really need to learn to rip music and/or find stuff I own already ripped on the internet. I have a pda that will gladly act as a music player if I had the music to put into it.

Oh, it is a Real Music Player that will play any MP3, which can be ripped from any cd, whether I own it or not. The Irony! :P

I must be a very strange and exptic flower indeed, I don't have a single not-owned-by-me piece of music on my mini iPod. :-D

Not because I am such a goodie-goodie but because I can't be bothered. Those music companies should love lazy gits like me. Haha.
