If you've got a photo business...

...you have got to look at Zack Arias' photography critique video blogs.

So Zack is this guy down in Atlanta who over the last few years has moved between starting a failed photography business, selling all his equipment and taking a survival job, getting back into photography by working as an assistant, building a successful editorial/music photography business and starting the "OneLight" workshop series.

A few weeks ago, he put out a call. He asked people trying to go pro if they would be willing to be critiqued in public. Critiques are based on both photography (which is valuable) and presentation of said photographs as part of a business website (which is really valuable).

Would I be correct in assuming that if I didn't want to become a professional, but wanted to improve my own skills, this would be of value as well?

It depends on what sort of photography you're interested in, and what level of skill you already have. It also depends on the work he's critiquing.

Right now there are only 3 episodes. Worst case you burn an hour and only get "watch your backgrounds," "don't clip off body parts" and "on-camera flash is evil" out of it. Best case you understand the basic technique needed to make all the corrections and improvements he's suggesting.

Very neat. He had some very cool & interesting things to say.

I'm seriously considering spending the $250 on Zack's "OneLight" DVD...
