Whoa momma!

The Downtown San Jose Beard Papa's Fresh'n Natural Cream Puffs just opened.

It's a block from work.

The cream puffs are really that good. They've always got Vanilla and Chocolate, but I'm looking forward to the Green Tea and Earl Grey Tea custards.

I will allow myself one stop a week.

For a bit of insanity, watch The Beard Papas Story. It's very silly.

I'm glad there isn't one so close to work, it'd have ruined my diet. I've heard the BEST way to have them is fresh from the store, but I've yet to manage that, it's always been after refridgeration.
Though for what it's worth, my family has all been rather unimpressed with the non-vanilla/chocolate flavors (which is to say they didn't floor me, but that's merely by comparison). Granted I've not tried those, but I did try the milk tea. I didn't know what milk tea was, and quite frankly, I'm still not sure!

But vanilla... :::drool:::

I've had strawberry in the past (from the SF Marriott store), and they're really good. Had vanilla today.

I gather from your post that their cream puffs are better than their name & "story of" clip. http://www.muginohousa.com/main.php?nav=the_beard_papas_story

They're really good. Crunchy on the top and bottom, almost completely hollow, and filled with really good custard cream.

I've found the Yerba Buena store's better than the in-the-mall store. It could have been, of course, the day - and I've only been to each once.

It could also be sitting next to a smelly Chinese lunch tray in the mall.

Darn you! I work near both the standalone and the in-mall in SOMA SF. I'm leaving the office to go home and will have to stop by one or ther other on the way to BART ...

I work two blocks from the 4th and Mission Beard Papa (the SF Marriott one) and three blocks from the SF Centre one. We've managed to show great restraint and only go about once a month. Very dangerous place.

Can I just say how happy it makes me that you're excited about a cream puff shop? It's something I'd totally be bouncing off the walls about, too ;)

It's also a block and a half away from the Fairmont (WFC 2009).
