You've probably already seen this:

So what do your Russki contacts have to say about this one?

For the rest of you. Yes, it's a music video. Yes, it's allegedly features a company of Russian paratroopers. No, the guy singing the lead is just this guy, not an active-duty airman (I'm guessing).

Ahhh you are a Good Man (TM) for posting this. No, I hadn't seen it and how delightful is it? Let's not argue the crappiness of the song, the woodenness of everyone in it, nor, in fact, anything at all. Let us just rejoice in the sharp cheekbones that is the delight of many of those Russian paras.

I am a very happy Marquesate. :-p

A big troop of La Male!

Look at their under shirts.

Actually, that's the standard and official under shirt of Russian (and previously Soviet) Airborne troops. As well as a couple of flavors of their special forces units. Its one of the first tells you learned in the intel business to quickly ID the unit.

And, the training that is going on during the song is traditional Soviet era stuff. They loved running troops through a confidence course with stuff on fire.

Those wacky Sovi... ah... Russians!

Actually I knew that. But I couldn't help making the comparison to the perfume!

Old training dies hard! Sorry about that!

Barry Sadler, eat your heart out. I suppose I should show this to one of my Russian comrades co-workers to know for sure, but the singer sure looks to me like he's in an official combat uniform with officer's markings. If it's not, maybe CC26 can invite him to be Military Music Video Artist GoH. :-)

The three stars in a triangle like that indicate he's a Senior Lieutenant.

Which means the comparing him to Barry Sadler is incorrect. Sadler was a Staff Sergeant and therefore worked for a living.

;)
