What's up with all the Rankin & Bass style ad campaigns this year?

There's the FoodTV "Season's Eatings" ad (in which pseudo-claymation FoodTV personalities look really creepy). There's the ABC Family ads featuring Santa and his elves. There's the Alltel guy. There's the one I only half-remember where Santa can't remember his line (it's "Ho! Ho! Ho!")

I'm betting someone made a Rankin&Bass animation module for one of the popular 3D programs last year and it's "too easy" to use.

I think the Rankin & Bass style jumped the shark when I saw the "I'm a PC - I'm a Mac" ad last night. Ick.

Yeah, I really noticed that too. The food channle one is REALLY off I mean I am not the biggest fan of Paula Deen, but clay Paula Deen, screw that!
