You need to listen to this...

Global Kryner

Yes, it's an Austrian Oberkrainer band. Check out the songs page.

Madonna a'la oberkrainer. Santana a'la oberkrainer. Labelle a'la oberkrainer.

It's the soundtrack for your next steampunk party. Really, it should be...

Falco's "Amadeus" being performed by a German Oompa band... well, there just simply aren't words to describe it.

Thanks for the music link! That is exactly what we play at Bunny Jam. Ok, so the accordian thing is more one of the other dj's, and he'd probably speed it up to 300bpm with constant changes, but it's just so perfect!

Tuba + Accordian = Rawks

I don't get how it is Steampunk. It seems more... Weird Al than Steampunk to me.

Oberkrainer is a revival of archetypal 19th century central European pop folk music. It's beer, brats, warfare and engineering. It's "Oberkrainer" because a Slovenian (Kranjska) composer spurred the revival (much to the consternation of the Austrians, Swiss and Germans who felt they were beaten at their own game).

Global Krainer is modern pop done by an oberkrainer band, and a really good oberkrainer band at that. They know they're patently absurd, but they still play it straight. I love Weird Al's polka-pop medleys, but they're rather Spike Jones, laden with silly sound effects.

I'd throw them together with The Tiger Lilies and a few other vintage-style groups in a party mix.
