What? Wasn't it just last year that the company sold before, and they had to relocate the staff from Seattle to San Francisco? They are not going to be happy to hear that they have to move to Moscow now.
The Russians who have been running the livejournal.ru service under license for the last few years have bought LJ from SixApart. They're planning to keep the home office in San Francisco.
The press release indicates that they understand that the user-base is the value of the service, but that doesn't mean that we're not going to see a mass-exodus of Russian subscribers who were on the US servers to avoid their government's snooping.
I caught myself in the car today singing to the karaoke version of "From Russia With Love". I bought a bunch of karaoke Bond themes on iTunes leading up to FC007, but we never used them, so they're floating around on my iPod.
I hadn't pondered the coincidence of it...until now!
