Photo notes...
Jan. 29th, 2009 10:51 pmNow that I'm not at the con, I've taken another look at the pics I shot there. For the most part, I'm pretty happy. I've chucked probably 40 more pics that I thought were OK, but were too badly exposed or out of focus to be salvagable for anything other than use on the web. I'll be posting a "FC09 Gold" set up to flickr at higher resolution.
I love the new camera. I still barely know how to use it. I'm getting the results I want often enough, though. As I become more familiar with it, I'll be able to control the focus and exposure better.
I love the 50mm f/1.4 lens. It was just fabulous to shoot with at the convention.
I am absolutely thrilled with ColorMunki. I had no idea how bad the color was on my monitors until living with properly calibrated monitors for the last week. I'm also really happy with the print profiling. I'm a profiling madman, even creating profiles for the little baby i70 that we use at cons.
I love Lightroom. I still barely know how to use it. The Kelby Training Photoshop CS4 for Photographers has been useful in finding my way around; lightroom is very much a spiffed-up interface to the basic adjustment and retouching features in Photoshop, so the basic information translates well.
