Oh. My. God.

[livejournal.com profile] ratcreature (whom I don't know) posted scans of a few pages of Wizard's How to Draw: Heroic Anatomy after somebody asked how female comic characters could end up with such wonky anatomy. It's kind of amusing, and yes, people who want to become comic artists read this kind of thing, so it has influence.

Then [livejournal.com profile] vito_excalibur (whom I'm sure I've met somewhere) posted a tweaked version completely redrawn with the genders reversed.

Damn, that's brilliant...

We don't care that Rep. Mark Foley is gay.

We feel sympathy for his suffering abuse at the hands of a clergyman, but that's a distraction.

We feel sympathy for his problems with alcohol, but that's a distraction.

Kill the smoke-screen.

The man was coming on to under-age employees. He was offering alcohol to minors. In spite of complaints to the (Republican) Page Board Chairman and complaints from both Republican and Democratic representatives to the speaker of the House, nothing was done.

And now we've got the bullshit being shoveled.

Foley's Lawyer: "Any suggestion that Mark Foley is a pedophile is false, categorically false," Roth said. "Mark Foley denies ever, ever having any sexual contact with a minor." Ding! What was he doing cruising multiple pages. Sounds like he's not a molester, but also sounds like he is a pedophile.

Ben Stein: If there were an Academy Award for Hypocrisy, the surefire favorite for 2006 would be the Democratic Party... We have a Republican man in Congress who sent e-mails to teenage boys asking them what they were wearing, and an entire party, the Democrats, whose primary constituency, besides the teachers' unions, is homosexual men and lesbian women. I hope it won't come as a surprise to anyone that a big part of male homosexual behavior is interest in young boys. Ding! Democrats are soft on pedophilia! Let's trot out hyperbole, strawmen and old scare-tactics chestnuts! Let's hide our own hypocrisy with allegations of hypocrisy! Yeah, right.

Matt Drudge: The kids are egging the Congressman on! 'cuz we all know that it's never the powerful and strong party's fault.

Newt Gingrich: Well, you could have second thoughts about it, but I think had they overly aggressively reacted to the initial round, they would also have been accused of gay bashing.
The Wall Street Journal: Yes, Mr. Hastert and his staff should have done more to quarantine Mr. Foley from male pages after the first email came to light. But if that's the standard, we should all admit we are returning to a rule of conduct that our cultural elite long ago abandoned as intolerant. Ding! We're afraid of the cultural elite! We're afraid of looking intolerant! You have got to be kidding.

Boy, girl, doesn't matter.
