Well, you read about Friday. Afterward, we ran off to Vin Santo for dinner because we both needed a break from the week.

Saturday was much nicer. We got up a bit earlier than I would have liked and picked up [livejournal.com profile] jsciv at his hotel to go to lunch. J has now been introduced to the San Jose institution that is Falafel Drive-in. While we were having lunch the Subaru's windshield (cracked on the return trip from Gallifrey) was replaced.

We got J to his car and then went to decorate our table for the Rainbow Chamber of Commerce Crab Carnivale (to benefit the RCOC scholarship fund and the Billy deFrank Center Youth Programs). We're members (or rather the Unconventional Foundation is a member) not because we expect to get business from it, but because the networking opportunites to get things for Costume-Con and the foundation. There was a bit of table confusion, but we got our banner up and our decorations taken care of.

The Crab Carnivale itself was a blast when we returned in the evening. $45 each got us salad, pasta and all the crab we could eat. Several of the better-connected businesspeople really went all out on their decorations.

We have to remember to bring a bottle of "Vino Tinto Barato" for Kate to taste; it's cheaper than the Smoking Loon red they've been offering at RCOC events and I think it's better. We helped a little bit with the clean-up and also helped Kate figure the tip split for the servers. At the end of it all, there was crab left over, so we snagged a bit.
