Success - I had to load Samsung's lightscribe app off their site (it installs the LS drivers) and then used SureThing CD Labeler trial version to write.
Disc goes face-down (scribe side to the laser)
It takes about 20 minutes to burn the label
Label is very light, not readable from more than a couple of feet away.
Not sure if it will work for a plaque.
