...picked up a lot of '80s flashback stuff.

So why is it that late '80s Tangerine Dream sounds like a SquareSoft game soundtrack?

I remember at the time it sounding innovative and smart ('course, I was young and foolish at the time, and game platforms were all still 8-bit—except for Amiga—so they couldn't have featured soundtracks like this). Their earlier material held up much better, as do a number of other electronic artists of the time.

I suppose it could be worse, it could sound like a porn soundtrack now.
