I'm looking for a few good artists who would be willing to produce cover art for my new epub fanzine, iKinook Reader. Attached is a sample of the iKinook Reader cover typography as a PNG with transparency to be used as a design template. Art may fill the complete document page or not.

Text template for the iKinook Reader cover. The final image size for the cover will be 396x594 pixels, and the cover design has to take the text location into account. Text will be colored black or white as appropriate to the background.

The photo workflow office is back in Orange County, and is still working like mad to process the over 20,000 pictures that volunteers shot and turned in. It's going to take a few days for these to get uploaded.

But don't wait! There's hope!

If you're a Flickr member, and you shot photos at Costume-Con 26, please consider adding your convention sets to the Costume-Con 26 group photo pool. We've already got two members who have added their sets, but we would love to see more.

Hugo Nom that is...

I've filed my 2007 Hugo Award nominations.

...seems to be a resounding success.

It's there. People are subscribing/watching. People are recommending (some surprising, some entirely expected). People are commenting.

Technorati is being a bit wonky on the searches. I've got proof that the body-search within the journal works (a search on "Doctor Who" pulled up both posts yesterday with recommendations for BDP-short). I haven't got proof that the tag search across all of Technorati is going to work. [livejournal.com profile] johnnyeponymous posted a fanzine recommendation, after which I did the great tag-rename, and searching on 2006-fanzine-hugo in tags pulls up nothing. This is more irritating since Cheryl Morgan posted an entry in the soon-to-close Emcit blog using the same tag, which isn't being found either.

We'll see how things continue. On the calendar?
  • Nippon2007 announces their nominating window dates and deadlines
  • 2007 Hugo categories are added after January 1, 2007

Anyway, if you were a member of L.A.con IV, or are a member of Nippon2007, you're eligible to nominate for the 2006 Hugo Awards. It's not well known how much influence nominators have on the Hugo Award process. So...

Join. Read the rules. Recommend, and make your opinions known.

And then, when the time comes, fill out your nominating ballot.

...but "random junk" will have to do.

I read SomethingAwful every day. Photoshop Phriday exhibits occasional flashes of brilliance. Fashion SWAT is a great whorehouse of bad fashion photos and bad clothes.

The forums I avoid like the plague; the dink factor is just out of hand. We're talking a web forum, though. What do you expect?

The news, though? Today's news article is just horrific. Read it. Read it quickly before all your good taste and sense gets sucked out of your brain, just before your brain gets sucked out of your head.

If you haven't booked your Saturday yet, and you have a few bucks to spare ($10 general admission, $50 VIP reception) haul up to The Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco for KINK INK!

I've just heard that BayCon '05 Author GoH [livejournal.com profile] jaylake will be doing... something... for the event. I think it's going to be a Fez day.

...and you're a photo geek, you've got to check out this entry.

safest place on plane is black box

In other notes, go to efanzines.com and download SF/SF #10 (PDF). If you're reading this and you were at a fannish event in the last two weeks, there's a good chance there's a picture of you in it.

Gotta say this.

Check out eFanzines.com, home of [livejournal.com profile] johnnyeponymous's extremely clever and delightful The Drink Tank and other fanzines of classic style, distributed electronically.

There's also a notification list on Yahoogroups so you never have to miss an ish.

Read, and send Chris an EWoC.
